Marinella Senatore Italy, b. 1977

Marinella Senatore (b. 1977, Cava de’ Tirreni, Italy) has developed a multidisciplinary practice spanning tapestry, collage, drawing, light sculpture, installation, and performance, through which collective rituals, vernacular traditions, and contemporary mythology are transformed into image, form, and public space. Over the past two decades, her research has evolved through collaborative frameworks involving millions of participants across more than twenty-four countries, generating a distinctive artistic universe rooted in the relationship between cultural memory, collective imagination, and visual form.

Operating across museums, public space, major foundations, and large-scale civic commissions, Senatore has developed a practice that investigates how images, narratives, and forms of collective agency are produced, shared, and transformed through culture.

Her work has been exhibited internationally by leading institutions including Centre Pompidou, Palais de Tokyo, Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea, MAXXI – National Museum of 21st Century Arts, Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Kunsthaus Zürich, UCCA Center for Contemporary Art, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Museum der Moderne Salzburg, Museum Villa Stuck, Berlinische Galerie, Hayward Gallery, BOZAR, Moderna Museet, Museo Madre, Kunsthalle St. Gallen, Queens Museum, and Faena Art, among others.

She has realised major commissions and public projects for institutions and foundations including Palais de Tokyo, Fondazione Nicola Trussardi, The Human Safety Net–Generali, Peggy Guggenheim Collection Venice, UCCA Center for Contemporary Art, Millennium Park Chicago, Kulturstiftung St. Moritz, Southbank Centre London, Nuit Blanche Paris, NOOR Riyadh, Palazzo Strozzi, and numerous public institutions and foundations across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the United States.
