On 30 October, La tempestad, an exhibition by Avelino Sala, opened at LABoral Centro de Arte (Gijón). The exhibition is co-produced with CentroCentro (Madrid) and curated by Semíramis González.
The exhibition offers an overview of the Asturian artist’s practice, in which art is understood as a tool for resistance and critical reflection on contemporary reality. From a poetic and political perspective, Sala addresses some of the key issues of our time, including the climate crisis, gender equality, migration and the contradictions of capitalism.
Beyond bringing together a selection of works, La tempestad constructs a visual narrative that functions as a poetic and political map of the present. The exhibition reclaims art as a space for thought, experimentation and resistance, from which to question existing structures and imagine other ways of inhabiting and understanding the world.
