Joan Pallé presents 'Asymmetric Futures' at Piana Gallery

Joan Pallé presents Asymmetric Futures, a solo exhibition at Piana Gallery in Kraków, exploring the political, ethical and technological implications of contemporary warfare, with a particular focus on the development of autonomous weapons systems and surveillance technologies.

Bringing together sculpture and drawing, the exhibition examines the growing role of drones and artificial intelligence in military operations, as well as the tensions between technological progress, military autonomy and the values these technologies are intended to protect.

The sculptural installation SWARM features full-scale replicas of the KARGU-2 military drone, while the Exploded Views series draws on research into the Eurodrone, a joint European defence project. In An Ideal Sky, Pallé revisits Alighiero Boetti’s visual inventories of aircraft, replacing them with contemporary unmanned drones to reflect on the changing nature of surveillance and our relationship with the sky.

Through these works, Pallé invites viewers to consider the ethical dilemmas posed by autonomous weapons and to question what an ideal sky might look like in a world increasingly shaped by military technology.
