Edition of twenty-seven postcards that expound alternative souvenirs of memories to those of the stereotypical, optimistic and friendly imaginary which both private and institutional tourism advertising present of the city of Barcelona. In 1908, a year before the popular uprising of the Setmana Tràgica (Tragic Week), the Sociedad de Atracción de Forasteros (society for the Attraction of Visitors) was founded in Barcelona on the initiative of the Mayor, and it was the first tourism development entity in the entire Spanish State with its aim being to create a favourable image of the city to activate the incipient tourism market. In a perfect symbiosis of interests, for more than a century an image of Barcelona has been built up, full of clichés: the cultured city, modern, colourist, Mediterranean, welcoming, in sum a theme park which conceals stories of marginalisation and misery, colonialism, class struggle, popular uprisings and repression.
