In
Singing Roses, a series comprising two groups of works, homage is paid to Rosa
Luxemburg, exploring the intersection of feminism and socialism and emphasizing
that the struggle for gender equality cannot be separated from the broader
fight for human equality, and vice versa. The first group of works consists of
a triad of drawings depicting the fist and the rose, symbols of socialism,
surrounded by text that remains consistent in all three cases. This text
emanates from four core pillars: radical artistic practice, activism,
socialism, and theory, forming a framework representing the elements that shape
the artist's artistic method. The second group of works challenges
stereotypical definitions of socialism by suggesting diverse approaches to the
concept. Its four pieces bring together portraits and texts of Rosa Luxemburg
with contemporary women. Additionally, there is a portrait of another Rosa, one
of the artist's daughters, accompanied by a text by British feminist theorist
Jean McCrindle.
