There are over 73.301 forced disappearances within the context of social conflict in Colombia, but given its direct or indirect responsibility with such disappearances, the State makes no efforts in locating the victims. In the hopes of finding their missing loved ones, families have taken action into their own hands with the organization of “searching mothers” associations. With extremely precarious means, this is a colossal task. This project is dedicated to them. The project "Muro Negro" (Black Wall), presents the inner monologue of a “searching mother”. The construction of the narrative unravels throughout an elliptical style, in tension with the different elements of the installation. It takes forms as a fictional documentary fed by archives gathered by the artist within his political and activist framework. The truck on the road, with its headlights piercing into the darkness, was shot during a road trip where the artist accompanied a group of farmers from the Anzorc organization. The black bricks drawing, revealed in the video as a darken sheet containing images of the missing victims, was extracted from the second chapter of the documentary “La Lumiére des Balles - the Darkness of Oblivion”, which was co produced by the artist alongside the geopolitical scientist Léo Raymond and with the support of the French Geopolitical Institute and the association Citizens for Peace.
