Benchamma is an authentic virtuoso of detailed
and precise work, his stylistic resource is based
on drawing with a clear link to writing, giving the same
importance and relevance to empty and full spaces.
He establishes a poetic relationship between winding
forms and the influences of Japanese calligraphy,
complementing with the use of big format and site
specific interventions.
His personal universe stretch on situations in which
nature and unidentified characters poses questions on us
about absolute truths. He places us in bucolic situations
where supernatural strengths surprise us. He creates
unnatural movements, incongruent situations,
disconcerting details; he makes us feel absurdity within
enigmatic situations. Benchamma prefers making
questions instead of giving answers, conferring him a
unique artistic personality.

Merino’s works is iconographical based on his favorite fiction characters from cinema, television and internet. His works reflect real problems of our society: war, pollution, difference between developed and underdeveloped countries, religion, politics, social problems and everything concerning contemporary society. His strategy is to unmask realities, invite the audience to think about worrying problems from a personal point of view, like corroding the consciousness. Merino stimulates us to see the ironic in tragedy, or what is bitterer in a satiric context. Merino clears that his work is not an explicit political statement; it is about using the mockery and the joke like a discursive instrument that connotes and fosters critical potential, to approach events of worldwide contemporary life. His fundamental premise is to entertain the audience and make them think about problems through humor.
