Releasing of the book The Violence 30-08-2008
The Violence
Jonas Liverods new book The Violence is a 200 page collection of drawings, photos and found footage constructed around a photo from the Altamont incident in 1969. The tense, fragmented and darkly hallucinatory world of The Violence builds around the moment when Hells Angels beat a man to death in front of the stage of the Rolling Stones at the Altamont festival. Like Altamont where intentions were good and it all ended up so wrong, The Violence embraces the uncanny, the tries, mistakes and the feverish energy of lost control. Partly printed on bible-paper, the book is a signed and numbered edition of 700.
It follows the series of four exhibitions with the common title Permanent daylight through 2008-09. First out was Pool gallery in Berlin, next comes Ystad museum of Art. In December Permanent daylight #3 opens at Nordin gallery in Stockholm and and finally part four at Kristinehamns museum of art in early 2009. A separate part of Permanent daylight will also
be shown at Aarhus Kunstbyggning in Denmark in 2009. The Violence is published by Norwegian publisher noCUBE and has been designed in collaboration with Danish design agency re-public.
